The PureFace Sonion Ion feature emits positive and negative galvanic current, electric current by chemical action. When the electric stimulus of galvanic current is applied to the skin, the positive pole contracts and the negative pole expands. The galvanic current pulse simultaneously activates both the negative and positive ion pads. The galvanic current uses the negative ion to expand the pore and soften impurity deposits into a liquid state, while the positive ion pad contracts to push out the impurities form the pores. This method is much gentler than having extractions or picking at the pores to release the impurities. By releasing the impurities, large pores will return to normal size.

The galvanic current pulses alternate between negative and positive pads to firm, tone, and lift the skin.
